A few days ago, Republican former Navy pilot Marc Flagg filed papers to challenge Congressman Ron Klein (D-Boca Raton).
According to Congressional Quarterly, Flagg's parents were on the plane that crashed into the Pentagon on September 11th and were killed in the attacks.
According to the same article, Klein raised $600,000 last quarter and has $500,000 in the bank.

About a month ago, the Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel published an op-ed of mine which, I am proud to say, was published here first.
The Sun-Sentinel version is here
Not that it changed anything. After this was published the House voted to move our primary to next January. The vote was 100something to one.
Anyway, just wanted to make sure people know that by speaking up we can, occasionally, reach a wide audience.

(Go ahead and impress everyone - promoted by Florida Politics)
Alright insiders and political junkies, here's your chance to impress everyone.
After the jump are 10 hot primary campaigns. Pick the winners before the polls open on Tuesday and impress us all with your insight and skill.
Each race is numbered and there's a tie-breaker at the end. Format your answers with the number of the race (1-10) and your pick. I'll post my answers in the comments.
This is intended ONLY for fun and amusement. There's no prize other than improved ego. Good luck!

James Walker is running for the Florida House against Dennis Baxley in the 24th District. I'm his campaign manager. The following is from James' Campaign Journal.
This has been such an exciting few months of campaigning. Every day is one day closer to Election Day and one step closer to winning this thing. It has been such an honor to meet so many people, all over the county, who have come forward to support this campaign. Thank you.
A couple weeks ago at the Silver Springs Shores candidate forum I had my first chance to face Mr. Baxley on stage. Well, Mr. Baxley didn’t show up, but his people were there. I was really amazed that, not only did they acknowledge our campaign, they actually went on the attack.
I had been waiting for that all along. It drove me nuts wondering just how they would characterize me. After spending $50,000 on “consulting,” the best they could come up with was…….. “The last thing we need in Tallahassee is another political scientist.”
Seriously.

So far, the blogosphere's main tool of influence in today's political scene has been money - its ability to rally groups of supporters around particular candidates. The national blogosphere, and now state blogospheres, have used the site ActBlue to coordinate fundraising efforts and bring the power of the netroots to sometimes unknown state candidates.
We can begin to do the same thing here in Florida and begin to put our mark on the future of Florida politics.

Last week, we discussed the need for petitions - and I hope many of you have been dutifully calling your favored campaign(s) and assisting them. Keep on doing this until you can't any longer.
This week's tip after the flip...

Akula pointed this out in one of the daily news posts. Figured I'd put this in its own post.
All Democratic Congressional Candidates should take note of this gem:
"Class Warfare or Not, Treat Florida Like Other States"
Bottom line: You can't trust Republicans with money. Period.

I'm tired of losing - how about you?
As you all know very well - if Democrats are going to make a comeback of any size - this year is it.
In this "series" on "Mobilizing the Progressive Florida Blogosphere", I'll be putting out a few things on what the average blogger in 2006 can do for any Democrat or progressive candidate out there - if you're not already waist deep in campaign work.

Cross posted at mariondems.org, Luntz material from dailykos.com
Frank Luntz (who, yes, is traditionally a Republican pollster, but there's been a falling out between him and the GOP leadership, and he's now a mercenary) has done a focus group of Democrats running in 2008. I think these are tenents which should definitely also be practiced in 2006:
