| The DCCC announced the launch of new radio ads today targeting ten representatives for their votes on the Iraq War and/or votes against the Webb GI Bill. Five of those representatives are in Florida, including Republican Commitee Chair Adam Putnam (FL-12), the corrupt Tom Feeney (FL-24) and the three South Florida Bush rubberstamps, Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (FL-18), Lincoln Diaz-Balart (FL-21), and Mario Diaz-Balart (FL-25). This is a clear sign that Florida will be a battleground for congressional races this fall. Florida Republicans will have to answer for their rubberstamping of the Bush agenda from their support of his failed economic policy to their continued support of the war in Iraq. Here's the statement from DCCC Chair and Congressman Van Hollen. With Memorial Day fast approaching, Chairman Chris Van Hollen announced today that the DCCC is launching radio ads against ten House Republicans for their hypocrisy in claiming to support our troops and our veterans, but then playing politics with funding them. “This Memorial Day, all Americans join together to honor our men and women in uniform. We must distinguish between words and deeds. Unfortunately, Republicans’ votes do not always match their rhetoric on our troops and veterans,” said DCCC Chairman Chris Van Hollen . “We will be going district-by-district to hold Republicans accountable for their double speak and playing politics with the bill to fund our troops and veterans. Our troops don't have the luxury of abandoning the battlefield, like the Republicans did when they refused to vote ‘yes’ or ‘no’. And Republicans shouldn’t leave our veterans behind by voting against the GI Bill. America ’s troops and veterans deserve better.”
And the text of the ads, for Putnam and Feeney: “Republicans in Congress have always promised to fund our troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan . “But, when it came time to cast a vote to do so, Congressman John Boehner did not. “Our troops can’t choose whether or not to do their jobs. John Boehner can. Yet, when he was supposed to vote “Yes” or “No”, Boehner chose not to stand up for our troops and instead, did nothing. Our troops stand up for us. They need Congressman Boehner to stand up for them. “Boehner also voted against expanding the GI bill for the first time since World War II to provide a free college education for veterans. That’s leaving veterans behind. “Call John Boehner at 513-779-5400 and tell him to stop turning his back on our troops and our veterans. “The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is responsible for the content of this advertising. For the Diaz-Balarts and Ros-Lehtinen (In Spanish): “Republicans in Congress have always promised to fund our troops fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan . “But, when it came time to cast a vote to do so, our members of Congress Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Mario Diaz- Balart did not. “When they were supposed to vote “Yes” or “No”, they chose not to stand up for our troops and instead, did nothing. Our troops stand with us. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, Lincoln Diaz-Balart and Mario Diaz- Balart should keep their word and stand up for our troops. “Call Ilena Ros-Lehtinen at 305-220-3281, Lincoln Diaz-Balart at 305-470-8555, and Mario Diaz-Balart at 305-225-6866. Tell them tell to stop turning their backs on our troops. “The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee is responsible for the content of this advertising.
